Green in the city founded in 2009 is currently the only shop in Paris that combines unique and trendy selection by young and international designers with an ethical business approach. It gathers together the work of fifteen fashion designers, picked for their talent and business ideology, being environmentally friendly and respecting all the participants in the production line. The shop has carefully selected each ready-to-wear clothing collection (men, women and kids) and cosmetics according to specific aesthetic criteria and ethical principles. Their choice is also made by looking at the history and sincerity of each designer, “the creations need to translate their identity and sensitivity”. Via their exclusive selection, the brand aspires to convey values that are important to them : creativity, quality and fashion style.  

Respect for ethics is ever-present in the background as the guiding policy adopted by all of them. They are driven by great ambitions and sparkling creativity. The materials used are essentially natural and non-polluting, fabrics are organic, silks are non-violent (a process which avoids scalding the silkworms) and the dying uses no heavy metals and uses vegetable dyes when possible, which is far less toxic for the body and the environment. The bags and shoes are made with “vegetable leather”, an excellent tanning alternative with no use of chrome (unlike the industrial method), and therefore does not pollute waterways.

Green in the city organises 2 or 3 exhibitions and events every year in order to present the projects of its collaborators and artists sharing its values. Collections follow one another and renewed throughout the seasons in the manner of well-known Couture fashion houses. The shop prefers to work with its partners on a long term basis, but it still happens that new ones come to replace old ones. It all depends if the new items offered still match up to its aesthetic criteria and business approach.

Green in the city créé en 2009 est à ce jour la seule boutique parisienne alliant la création inédite et tendance de jeunes créateurs internationaux à l’éthique. Elle est composée d’une quinzaine de stylistes qui ont tous fait le choix de s’engager pour des convictions écologiques et respectueuses des acteurs de la chaîne de production. L’enseigne a soigneusement sélectionné chaque collection de prêt-à-porter (homme, femme et enfant) et cosmétiques qui doivent correspondre à des critères esthétiques bien précis et aux principes éthiques. Son choix se fait également en fonction de l’histoire et de la sincérité de chaque créateur, « il faut que les vêtements puissent traduire leur identité et leur sensibilité». L’enseigne souhaite à travers sa sélection exclusive transmettre les valeurs qui lui sont propres : la création, la qualité et l’esthétique.

Le respect de l’éthique en trame de fond correspond à la ligne de conduite adoptée par tous ces fashion designers nourris d’une ambition et créativité effervescente. Les matériaux utilisés sont essentiellement naturels et non polluants, les textiles sont Bio, la soie est non-violente (procédé qui évite d’ébouillanter les vers à soie) et les teintures sont sans métaux lourds ou végétales quand c’est possible, beaucoup moins toxiques pour le corps et l’environnement. Les sacs et chaussures sont fabriqués en cuir végétal, un excellent alternatif  de tannage végétal sans utilisation de chrome (façon industrielle), et ne pollue donc pas les cours d’eau.  

Green in the city organise 2 à 3 fois par an des expositions et des événements afin de présenter les projets de ses collaborateurs et d’artistes portant les mêmes valeurs. Les collections défilent et se renouvellent au gré des saisons à l’instar des grandes maisons de couture. La boutique souhaite bien évidemment travailler sur le long terme avec ses partenaires mais il arrive que de nouveaux apparaissent sur le tableau pour remplacer d’autres. Tout dépend de ce qui lui sont proposés, si les nouveautés continuent de correspondre ou non aux critères esthétiques et aux valeurs de la marque.

C’est ça Green in the city, la parfaite alliance de l’esthétisme et de l’éthique sans compromis ! L’enseigne souhaite mettre ses produits en ligne très bientôt pour donner accès aux clients internationaux et nationaux.
