Malongo Coffee shop in Paris
After a few months off, we’re back for a new article about a major player in the fair trade industry : Malongo, initially a coffee roasting company, is now number one in organic and fair trade.
Frans Van der Hoff, who is no other than the creator of the fair trade concept, has been associated with the brand since 1992. Since then, the company has applied organic and fair trade philosophy to their whole business.
Nevertheless, their principal skill consists in the premium selection of their coffee, coming as it does from every corner of the world, consisting mostly of grand crus and Arabica.
All of their beans are slow-roasted in the traditional way, in order to preserve a maximum of aroma and ensure the highest quality. The brand takes pride in being a premium coffees producer above all.
If you are a coffee lover, you can taste of their coffees with different flavours from all around the world. The coffee from Ethiopia has, for example, oaky notes, soft, wild and perfumed with scents of spices. Their Chine Simao coffee is both spicy and full-bodied and strong with a long finish, one of the shop’s best-sellers. Coffee from Latin America is soft, well-balanced, fruity and acidic. There are descriptions for every variety that will help you make your choice.
For those who prefer tea, they are not left out either, the shop sells a large range of teas of the world - all organic and from fair trade sources. All top quality, they have intense aromas of fruits, and can be bought loose or in tea bags.
If you love to collect kitchen gadgets of all kinds, a selection of tableware is available, and they sell coffee machines for amateurs and professionals, with various Italian and Japanese brands. In short, there’s loads of choice! The shop’s main attraction is the mini-roaster, currently the only one in Paris, where you can roast your own coffee beans as you like them.
To make sure that nothing is wasted, all the coffee is sold in biodegradable or recycled packaging and every shop is designed in an eco-friendly way. Feel free to drop by and have a cup of coffee or tea and try their delicious pastries, they also have a tea room with wifi connexion !
